Biennial Staff Seminar 2014 - a fundraiser to save foxhunting for future generations
A great turn out at the Biennial Staff Seminar in Lexington, KY. Thank you for coming out and supporting the MFHA.
We'd like to thank all our vendors and member hunts who donated items for our silent auction - it was a big success raising over $11,000 for the Association and Foundation!
A special congratulations to Larry Pitts, Huntsman of Potomac Hunt on receiving the Ian Milne Award and to Thaddeus Prince from Misty River Hounds on receiving the Youth Scholarship to attend the seminar.
It only happens every two years - Don't miss it!
April 12th and 13th

Back by popular demand, the 2014 Staff Seminar will return to beautiful Lexington Kentucky at the magnificent Griffin Gate Marriott, where it was held in 2004 and 2010. It is just a few miles from the Kentucky Horse Park where the 2010 World Equestrian Games were held. We are also just minutes away from the famous Keeneland race track. The whole area is a horseman’s paradise with barn tours available of the famous stud farms (you must make your own arrangements with the hotel) and three hunts in close proximity. Golfers have many beautiful courses to choose from and just driving around the area is a sightseeing joy. It would be wise to arrive early Friday and take advantage of these offers.
You must be a Subscribing Member to attend, and unless you live in the area, we request that you stay on-site to attend the Seminar. The Griffin Gate Marriott is a five-star hotel with numerous amenities, including upscale and casual dining, indoor and outdoor pools, gym, sauna, tennis courts, and access to the beautiful Griffin Gate Golf Club. We suggest you make your reservations early as the rooms fill up fast - simply click here to make your reservations online or contact the Marriott at (859) 231-5100 and request the Master of Foxhounds Associations Seminar rate. We were able to negotiate an excellent rate of $149 per room, as well as other discounts, by agreeing to fill our room quota. Please help us keep expenses down by staying at the Marriott.
The MFHA and Covertside will be offering a foxhunting-specific trade show at the seminar location. Covertside advertisers will be exhibiting their wares in person in the lobby outside the seminar rooms on Saturday and Sunday. Artists, hunt appointments and other vendors with a strong connection to foxhunting will be on hand for your shopping pleasure. Vendors who wish to participate, please contact Hope Graves. Participating vendors.
Silent Auction - several Hunts from all over the US and Canada have donated amazing hunt experiences to be auctioned off at the seminar. A great way to experience hunting in unique and exceptional areas throughout America! Bid sheets will be placed around the room during the events for bidding. Bidding will close at 1pm on Sunday, April 13th. Click here for a listing of items being auctioned off.
Events will begin early Saturday, April 12th, with your choice of a Gainesway Farm tour (must use own transportation) or a visit to the Iroquois Kennels (transportation provided to this event). Later that afternoon at the Marriott, the MFHA will host a Master's seminar at 1pm. Typically a Master’s only event, this program has been updated so that Masters who wish to bring someone key to their hunt (someone being groom to take responsibilities, hunt secretary, etc.) may bring them to the Master's Seminar. Click here for the list of speakers and topics. Note: Early registration for all events will begin at 9am on Saturday.
On Saturday evening, the festivities continue with a dinner and party at the Marriott beginning at 6:30pm. During dinner the recipient of the Ian Milne Award will be announced.
On Sunday, the educational program will be sure to educate and entertain everyone. Click here for seminar speakers and topics.
